What's going on with the Tales world? Apparently, lots of stuff. We'll try to update this every so often when we hear of something.

Vote for your favourite Tales series character of all time on Namco's Tales-channel! namco-ch.net/taleschannel/char… The site had previously hosted one of these "popularity contests". See the previous results here.


Finally, ten years later, Tales of Phantasia, the game that began it all, is getting a North American release on the GBA. The expected release date in NA is March 6, 2006, and in Europe March 31, 2006.

Celebrate! It's the Tales of 10th anniversary! Ten years and still going strong. It's as great an excuse as ever to go draw some fanart, hm? ;[


A Tales game has been announced for the Nintendo DS. Whether it is a remake or a new game, no details have been released. However, through observation of the portable Tales games patterns, it will probably be the former. Which game will be remade can only be speculated at this point.

Tales of Eternia Online is now undergoing exclusive beta testing in Japan. This MMORPG is based on the Tales of Eternia game (was once known as Tales of Destiny II) for Playstation. The console version of the game made it to North America, but it doesn't seem likely that its future online relative will.

Fans of the Tales of Phantasia Anime will be disappointed to here that the final installment of the OVA has been delayed ONCE AGAIN. The fourth episode will be released in Japan on December 22, 2005 instead of the previously scheduled September release, which itself was already a delayed date. Well, add another item to your Christmas List.

Contest I


Submission Requirements

Draw fanart from any of your favourite Tales games that will be suitable for a club ID. It does not have to be in a specific "ID" format. You may draw just a regular picture and we will format it to make a club ID.

Example

You may choose to draw regular fanart picture like www.deviantart.com/deviation/6… (pardon the fugliness) and submit it as your contest entry. If you are picked as the winner, we will take your image and make it into an ID like sylvansymphony.keetazi.net/tem… However, if you would prefer to just create your entry like the second image, that's fine too. (The only words that would go on it would be something like "'The Tales Series' Club" or some such.)

Depending on the number of entries, and if they are not already in some kind of "ID" format, we may choose 1-2 winners. We encourage having more than one character in your submission but don't feel you need to sacrifice quality for quantity. There are no restrictions on the type of medium you can use.

To submit your entry to the club, upload it to either deviantArt or your own personal gallery/server and send us the link by noting the club with the subject "Contest".The due date for this contest has not yet been decided. We will post the links in this journal and members will vote for their favourite(s).


Restraints

- No spoilers please! Not everyone has played every Tales game.
- Keep it original--don't just recopy/trace the official art with the exact same pose, expression etc. They will not be accepted.
- If you couples in your drawing, canon pairings only. That means only pairings that follow the game's story.
- Try to keep a reasonable file size


Of course it is not obligatory to enter the contest but we do encourage as many people as possible to participate.

Welcome to tales-club, a club founded by and . Here we are dedicated to the "Tales of" game series published by Namco. This includes everything from retro games like Tales of Phantasia to future games like Tales of the Abyss.


Want to be a member?

You must be a fan of some "Tales of" game. You do not necessarily have to have played the game. PLEASE NOTE THE CLUB IF YOU WANT TO JOIN. You can leave deviant comments but unless you note the club you will not be listed as a member. In the subject header type in the word "Join". This makes it easier for us to organize notes. Please be patient while waiting for a reply—both founders are in their final year of high school and thus have a lot of work and pressure offline.

This is not obligatory, but it would be appreciated if you put an icon-link to this club in your journal or signature (signature are links only). For the icon use : icontales-club : and for the text link use : devtales-club :, both without spaces.


Rules

No spoilers. If you and other members would like to discuss or portray spoilers in artwork, keep it outside of the club.

Please, no excessive fangirling/fanboying! It's okay to be enthusiastic about the games, but try not to go overboard (eg. Impersonating/imitating characters, "OMGI LOVE "X"!!!1111" etc.)

Note that inappropriate pairings will not be accepted in the club. This includes yaoi, yuri, etc. We would like to follow the canon pairings that were made in game and are not particularly interested in seeing others paired together inappropriately. The ONLY exception is if the "inapproriate pairing" is clearly distinguishable in the games; it can not be a pairing that you make up on your own. Again, if you and other members want to discuss or draw that subject, please keep it out of the club.

Contest I

Draw a picture of one or more characters from one or more of the Tales games that will be suitable for our club ID. We'd like to include as many games as possible but we do not want to crowd the image. Two to three winners will be chosen and we will make an ID by combining the artwork.
